We moved to Albemarle County in the summer of 2022. I often tell my children we live in a beautiful state with many unique nooks and crannies. My kids scoff at my assertations and recall the wonder of North Carolina with its beaches and mountains. So, I figured I would pique their interest by receiving covers with postmarks from every post office in Virginia and have them research the localities. On second thought, I realized that would be utterly uninspiring. Instead, I decided it might be a better idea to visit all the post offices in Albermarle County and City of Charlottesville and see those nooks and crannies in the first person.
The plan is for us will take a selfie at each of the local post offices and drop a letter for the local postmaster requesting cancellation of a cover to return to us. If we’re lucky, the postmaster will not throw our letters away! Follow our journeys below and see any covers, should they reach us.
